NFL Betting – Peebles’ Picks for Sunday October 11, Week 5
Ok you slobs, Peebles was out late last night, on a bender (as usual
) and got up VERY late today. He feels bad that he’s going to be posting his NFL picks for Week 5 on Saturday night, but hey, it’s still before kick-off, right? Anyway, after Week 4′s ass-kicking, Mr. Peebles is determined to deliver for Week 5, a pivotal weekend in NFL football. This is when sportsbook lines are more accurate, teams have shaken off opening week jitters, and when wins count more than anything for the all important post season.
Mr. Peebles’ favorite game this weekend is the contest between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 4:15 PM EST. The Buckin’ Broncos are still UNDEFEATED this season, a commanding 4-0 record that goes head to head with the Patriots 3-1 slightly blemished standing. The Pats are the favorite in this contest, sitting on a -3 line – at the time of this post – which is no surprise. This game should be a bare knuckle boxing match to the finish. We all know the Patriots have a solid team, so will the Broncos’ perfect season be ruined as of this Sunday? Read on, Peebles makes his pick below.
Please note, in the picks listed below, we include spreads as of Saturday, October 10, 2009. As always, these numbers are subject to change right up until each game commences, so be sure to check our Live Odds page – click here to see the latest numbers before you make a bet. Also, don’t forget to check the moneyline numbers as well: straight up betting is the most favorite form of wagering, but don’t rule out moneyline wagers which can sometimes yield better results with less risk. Without further adieu, here are Peebles’ Picks for NFL betting action Week 5.
Mr. Peebles Free Picks for NFL Betting Week 5
- Dallas Cowboys vs. Kansas City Chiefs – Sunday, October 11, 2009 – 1:00 PM EST. Well, so far this season, we really can’t say much for the Chiefs. They’ve been struggling and haven’t quite lived up to expectations from the betting public. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the current line on the game is -7.5/+7.5 Cowboys/Chiefs respectively. As always, the question is whether or not the Chiefs can beat the 7.5 point gap. The sportsbooks aren’t looking to push on this bet, given the .5 increment on the spread, so this means you’re getting a “one way or the other” result on this one. In the end, Mr. Peebles recommends taking the Cowboys for the win. They should be able to send the Chiefs back to the reservation by more than 7.5 points without too much effort.
- Oakland Raiders vs. New York Giants – Sunday, October 11, 2009 – 1:00 PM EST. Now here’s one that could be potentially interesting: we have the New York Giants, who have smashed every opponent they’ve faced so far this season, and the on and off Oakland Raiders, who are a mid-pack team with ability to do much better. Interestingly enough, the spread on this one is +15/-15 Raiders/Giants respectively. Will the Giants win this game outright? Most likely. The issue on this one is the 15 point spread, which seems a bit generous, even in the face of a commanding Giants team. On a good day, the Raiders could easily come within 15. They just need to score a couple times and then hold on for their dear lives. Mr. Peebles is going with the Raiders to beat the +15 point handicap.
- Atlanta Falcons vs. San Fransisco 49ers – Sunday, October 11, 2009 – 4:05 PM EST. Ok, so the Falcons definitely disappointed Mr. Peebles last weekend. He thought more highly of them, and sadly they did not convert. So it comes as no surprise that the line on this game is +2.5/-2.5 Falcons/49ers respectively. So the 49ers need to win by 3 or more: is this possible against Atlanta? The 49ers have won against the Cardinals, Seahawks, and Rams (not exactly a big challenge), while they’ve lost in a close one to the Favre powered Vikings (27-24 Week 3). On the other side, the Falcons lost to the Patriots, but have wins against the Dolphins and Panthers. What’s the call? Peebles is going out a limb, once again, and taking the underdog Falcons for the win. The 49ers have better credentials, but the Falcons aren’t so bad either.
- New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos – Sunday, October 11, 2009 – 4:15 PM EST. This is Mr. Peebles’ favorite game this weekend. Hands down, it’s going to be a bruiser from the outset: the undefeated Broncos will go blow for blow against a worthy Patriots squad that is 3-1. Everyone gets to lose once in a while, and the Patriots are no exception to this rule. What’s more, as the -3/+3 Patriots/Broncos line sees the Patriots coming out on top, the result of this game is rather clear. Mr. Peebles will take the Patriots for the win and vanquish the Broncos back to the farm in Denver (where they belong, by the way). The Patriotic Pats
should win by more than 3 points easily. - Indianapolis Colts vs. Tennessee Titans – Sunday, October 11, 2009 – 8:20 PM EST. Sunday’s night game features a matchup between sheer power and sheer sh*tty luck. The Colts have steamrolled their opponents this season, riding along on Manning’s rocket arm that drives the offense. Meanwhile, the Titans have been lackluster (to say the least), and the -3.5/+3.5 Colts/Titans spread respectively is way off the mark. Handicapping the Colts ONLY -3.5 points is not giving them enough credit at all. Everyone would like to see the Titans put together a win, but it will probably not happen this weekend against a formidable Indianapolis Colts squad. Mr. Peebles is going with the Colts for the win on this one. They should do much better than 4 points for sure. Look for a winning margin greater than a touch down (not that it matters). The Colts will cream the downtrodden Titans.
So that’s Week 5 picks in a nutshell, you pricks. Mr. Peebles is still embarrassed about last weekend, and needs Week 5 to be some sort of redemption for his uncharacteristically off-the-mark Week 4 picks. Needless to say, with Peebles is hoping for a 3-2 result on his 5 picks at minimum; and, all things considered these aren’t picks that prey upon the neutered Detroit Lions or St. Louis Rams
. So give Mr. Peebles a little credit and bet some cash on his behalf: you won’t regret it!
Good Luck from Mr. Peebles!
